The industry PhD (iPhD) project, established by the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) of Australia has the goal to extend high-calibre PhD candidates the opportunity to deliver real-world solutions across industry, applied research and academia for the benefit of society. Through the Adelaide Glycomics centre, Agilent Technologies has provided Daniel Clayton-Cuch, the iPhD student who will be undertaking a 6 month placement project at the Agilent Technologies facility in Melbourne with access to technology and other financial and in-kind support, including instruments and training that are fundamental to the effort.
Daniel will be starting his placement in October, which will focus on multiple essential facets: the development of new technology in collaboration with Agilent Technologies, the thorough assessment of the properties of inorganic compounds and their derivatives as well as improving analytical techniques for high-throughput analysis of compounds. These activities are essential, improving current technologies and addressing fundamental issues facing modern society. This entire process also helps ensure that future R&D leaders are trainer to bring new ideas and innovation to sectors that are predicted to continue to grow.
